There are many ways to advocate for quality patient eye care in Alabama. Contacting your Alabama Legislator and donating to the Alabama Academy of Ophthalmology's Political Action Committee and Surgical Scope Defense Fund are two great ways to get started.
The Alabama Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons Political Action Committee operates on behalf of our members and represents the interests of Alabama ophthalmologists and their patients. Contributions are used to demonstrate support for those public officials who champion the causes important to our patients and ophthalmology, as well as the advancement of medicine in Alabama.
Without the support of informed public officials, patient safety in Alabama will be jeopardized from various “scope creep” legislation and other ill-advised proposals that are introduced in the Legislature every session. Show our elected officials that you care about maintaining the quality and integrity of eye care in Alabama.

The Surgical Scope Defense fund enables ALAEPS to fund initiatives to support our advocacy efforts. These donations are not reported and are kept anonymous.
Donate to the EYEPac
The EYEpac is a political action committee that allows our organization to raise funds to donate to legislators running for office because elections matter! As a group, you can have impact by helping to medicine friendly candidates at the state level. A PAC allows a community of like-minded individuals to amplify their voice- individually, and as a group. Donations to the PAC are reportable to the Alabama Ethics Commission.
